Sognefjord & Nærøyfjord

The second-largest fjord in the world, Sognefjord begins just north of Bergen (but is a two-hour drive or 30-minute flight away) and stretches 127 miles into the country. Known for its dramatic peaks that are as high as the fjord is deep in some parts— Sognefjord is over 4,200 feet deep at its lowest point, and the mountains over 5,500 feet high—the fjord is also home to picturesque villages, including one that is known for its goat cheese and as the inspiration for Frozen’s Arendelle (execs from Disney visit often for inspiration for the movie’s sequel and Broadway adaptation). A must-do is a RIB boat tour, during which you can see porpoise, seals and old Viking settlements, and exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nærøyfjord, the most narrow and beautiful branch of the Sognefjord.
