Trollstigen

Trollstigen Møre og Romsdal

It’s hard to say whether the drive along Trollstigen or observing it from its highest viewpoint is more dramatic. The serpentine mountain road, which has 11 hairpin turns and sits nearly 3,000 feet above sea level at its highest point, is perhaps the most famous National Tourist Route in Norway (a collection of 18 highways that are particularly scenic and feature architecturally interesting viewpoints) and a must-visit. Surrounded by jagged, snow-capped peaks, “The Trolls Road” boasts a beautiful platform, from which visitors can take in the dramatic passageway and waterfalls that are dotted throughout the surrounding landscape. While some of the steepest parts of road are carved into the mountainside at times, the drive is rather easy. Note: Trollstigen is closed during the winter months.
