Tucked away at the tip of the Oslofjord, Norway’s capital could aptly be described as both a large village and a small city. It is Europe’s fastest-growing capital, but just beyond the rapidly developing city center are miles of uninterrupted forest, 40 islands and 300 lakes—teeming with Norse mysticism, adventurous pursuits and the regal Norwegian fjords.

  • 3 Days: Essential Oslo-LP

    3 Days: Essential Oslo

Thanks to its prime waterfront location, forested rural areas and nearby mountain regions, Oslo is ideal for adventurers. The city also boasts some of Europe’s most innovative galleries, which are best seen by private tour. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.

    • Day 1

Take a ferry to the Bygdøy Peninsula, which is home to five unmissable museums that provide a glimpse of Norwegian life and history. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the peninsula or return to downtown Oslo for lunch, before visiting the historic Holmenkollbakken ski jump. The hill boasts the world’s oldest ski museum, a ski jump simulator, a zip line covering the trajectory of a ski jumper’s flight and 360-degree views of the landscape.

    • Day 2

Wander around the Tjuvholmen/Aker Brygge area, which is known for its cutting-edge architecture. Make sure to stop at the modern Astrup Fearnley Museum, and City Hall, which boasts murals that tell the story of Norway’s history. After lunch at a hot spot eatery, visit the Vigeland Sculpture Park with a guide. The life’s work of Gustav Vigeland, the nearly 12-acre park represents the different stages of human life with more than 200 sculptures. Cap off the day with dinner at Oslo’s three-Michelin-starred eatery, Maaemo.

    • Day 3

This morning, explore the hipster Grünerløkka neighborhood, which feels a bit like Brooklyn in Norway. Pop into some of Indagare’s favorite shops before enjoying lunch at the Mathallen food hall, located just across the Akerselva River. Explore the cool area surrounding the food hall after lunch and then stop at the National Gallery to see Edvard Munch’s Madonna and The Scream paintings (the latter of which was notoriously stolen in 1994 but returned months later).

“The Thief is super cool and has a great location. It felt modern and quasi-chic with a Norwegian edge. The hotel’s spa was also incredible!”

“Summertime in Oslo is blissful, when locals and visitors mingle outdoors along the uber-cool waterfront area. The sun sets late at night, so I enjoyed long, sunlit walks home from dinner each evening.”
