Moscow

There are few bargains or special local products to be bought in Moscow. In a recent study of the world’s most expensive cities, Moscow has ranked above Tokyo and Zurich. You will see luxury boutiques and designer shops in stores like G.U.M. (pronounced Goom), the 19th-century shopping arcade on Red Square, but the prices are higher than they are in the West. It is against the law to take anything more than fifty-years-old out of the country, with the exception of folk art.
