Review

Dating to the early 1600s, Killiehuntly’s traditional Scottish farmhouse underwent a complete restoration by Danish architects and designers in 2016 to create a jaw-dropping countryside retreat. The interiors are comfy and stylish, from the wood-burning stone fireplaces to the modern furniture covered with fur throws and warm color palette.

The main house consists of a cozy living room, oversized dining room and enormous kitchen on the first floor and four large bedrooms upstairs that can be booked individually or as a total buyout. Additionally, there are several detached cottages with one, two and three-bedroom layouts. While there are no televisions on the property, all units have Wi-Fi access.

Outdoor lovers will find plenty to do on and off property, such as biking, horseback riding, fishing, hiking and skeet shooting. Killiehuntly even has its own in-house rangers for game hunting and landscape photography from August to October. The rangers’ expert tracking skills allow for close encounters with the highland’s stunning wildlife.

True to its roots, Killiehuntly remains a working farm and serves food sourced either on property or from neighboring farms. For breakfast, there is a hearty spread of homemade baked breads, warm dishes made with seasonal ingredients, organic vegetables and fresh farmhouse eggs. In the evening, all guests gather at two communal tables for a convivial and delicious three-course dinner.

Who Should Stay

Couples, groups and multi-generational families will all appreciate the awe-inspiring highland vistas and the plethora of outdoor activities with the option for an exclusive buyout.
