Ibiza Code

Wandering past the boutiques in Ibiza town, with store after store offering some version of the hippie, sexy Ibiza style, can be a bit overwhelming. Skip the deliberation and head to Ibiza Code. It’s a perfect blend of what’s great about the local look without the extremes. You’ll find neither grungy yoga pants nor sequined halter tops. Instead, the shop is full of luscious leather handbags and boots in natural tones, unique and festive jewelry, and plenty of feminine fashions that you would happily wear back home – provided of course the weather is warm enough.

Las Dalias—Hippy Market

Don’t miss a trip to this famous outdoor market (get there early, before the tourist buses do), a trove of local and exotic bohemian essentials, from gauzy white cotton tunics, tie-dyed T-shirts and flowing batik silk harem pants to incense and handcrafted jewelry, belts and gladiator sandals. The tradition of artisans gathering to sell their wares on weekend mornings began when the first hippies arrived on the island in the 1950s.

Interior View - Sluiz, Ibiza, Spain

Sluiz

No store on the island offers as much of a window into the cool Ibiza mindset as Sluiz. It’s quirky, colorful, hippie and hip, like Ibiza locals themselves. You’ll know you’ve reached the shop when you see the herd of grazing plastic cows along the highway out front. Inside the massive, multi-room space you can find distressed wood tables and benches to furnish your relaxed island abode, summery tableware in blazing hues and irresistible linens. Perhaps when you arrive the larger-than-life neon pink praying Buddha statue, with its 6000€ price tag, will still be available for your own weekend cottage. The clothing and shoe section, with its stylish Ibiza attire, is slightly more subdued. You can also admire an astounding collection of coffee table books (one featuring most of the world’s private islands caught my eye) or pick up a few funky knickknacks for your friends back home.
