Review
The architect and visionary behind the romantic Mallorca retreat Cap Rocat, Antonio Obrador, has brought his inimitable style to the center of Madrid with the Hotel Urso. The grand Neo-Classical palace, which sits between trendy Chueca and an upscale neighborhood, has been transformed into a chic boutique property with five-star service. It has a warm and cozy lobby area with large couches and fun touches like bookstands with floral prints framed in brass. Just above the Champagne bar, which attracts a stylish crowd, there’s a fabulous conservatory room where breakfast is served. There is a small but well-equipped gym on the lower level as well as a spa with a hydrotherapy pool.
The 78 spacious rooms, 13 of which are junior suites, offer bright, neutral colored accommodations. All of the rooms have a quaint, Juliet-styled terrace and offer lots of natural light with large, marble bathrooms.
Who Should Stay
Couples or small families who want a more local, and less touristy, experience in Madrid. Additionally, those who want more spacious accommodations in an elegant and modern setting would enjoy the Hotel Urso.
