One of Geneva’s most fashionable restaurants, Le Café des Banques is a favorite in town for contemporary fine dining. Chef Yoann Caloué’s menus—both a daily “surprise” prix fixe option and a la carte selections are available—highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients. Dessert, including a chocolate prepared three ways, is anything but an afterthought.

In the village of Hermance, about 20 minutes outside of Geneva, this charming country restaurant serves sophisticated, farm-fresh fine dining in a dreamy setting. Visitors in summer months should request tables in the garden, but it’s also worth stopping by in colder months, when you can eat by the fireplace. Menu highlights include truffle toast and salt-crusted baked chicken, as well as Crepes Suzette for dessert.

This local pizzeria is great for couples and families. They don’t take reservations, so you may have to cozy up to the bar for a drink or two until your table is ready. Know that the restaurant can be noisy during peak times.

Helmed by chef Vineet Bathia, the Mandarin Oriental’s one-Michelin-starred Indian restaurant is unlike any of its kind. Everything from the naan, freshly baked in the restaurant’s tandoori oven, to the extensive Swiss wine list, is superb. Its stylish interior is decorated with vibrant Indian reds and purples.

While the interiors may look a bit bland, insiders know Au Vieux Carouge serves the best cheese fondue in town. Located in Carouge, this local hot spot fills up for both lunch and dinner, so be sure to reserve a table before arriving. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
