Buure-Metzg
This adorable butchery sells all local meats, fresh and cured and is worth a look, even if you don’t plan on cooking while in Gstaad. It is located just behind the Promenade.
Early Beck
The best spot for chocolate and baked goods has stood in the heart of Gstaad village since 1910. Delectable local specialties include Gstaad nut cake and Pavés de Gstaad.
Hausweberei
Located on the main square in Saanen, this is the best place to shop for locally made handcrafts such as wooden toys, decoupage, and pottery. But the main attraction is the hand woven rugs (“weberei” translates to weaving.) If you ask the salesclerk, you may even be invited to watch the woman working the loom in the back of the store.
Le Caveau au Bacchus
This wine store in downtown Gstaad has a great selection of wines, including bottles that will run you at least 2,000 chf.
Lorenz Bach
With multiple stores in and around Gstaad town carrying a trendy selection of international luxury brands, Lorenz Bach is where to look for the latest alpine-chic fashions.
Tip: check out Bach’s discount store on the east end of the Promenade (just before the Louibach river) for 50-70% discounts on Cavalli ski jackets, Chanel fur-lined boots, and the like.
Marti Interiors
A great place to look for home goods, Marti offers everything from warm and cozy throw-blankets and pillows to bathroom and kitchen accessories.
Molkerei Gstaad
In addition to an incredible cheese counter featuring locally made and traditionally aged cheeses, this fine foods store in downtown Gstaad has a good selection of grab-and-go essentials like wine, crackers, yogurts, soft drinks, and sweets.
Pernet Comestibles
The extensive selection at Pernet Comestibles market defies its small town setting and the store is often referred to as the “Fauchon of Gstaad.” The wide range of high-quality gourmet goods includes teas, coffees, jams, chocolates, and wine. The fresh produce and prepared foods are also excellent.
Silver Sport Ski Store
This sport store (also owned by Lorenz Bach) sells and rents ski gear and equipment in an old converted chalet in Rougemont. (There is another location in the Park Hotel).
Trois Pommes
This upscale boutique, which has branches in Zurich, Basel, and St. Moritz, carries a great selection of brands such as Alaia, Balmain, McQueen, and Miu Miu. This is the perfect place to get decked-out for a night on the town.
