the Pink Camel alula

Pink Camel

Tucked away within a grove of date and fruit trees, in the middle of the desert, the Parisian-café-meets-desert-camp-outpost (where Indiana Jones might stop for coffee, if he were a digital nomad) the Pink Camel is an AlUla hot spot for brunch, lunch or a quick break. With elegant plates and pastries by Saudi chef Mayada Badr—and a host of selections that cater to the vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free—the Pink Camel is ideal for a light bite or drink to catch up on emails while touring in AlUla. Menu highlights include açai bowls, avocado toast, grilled salmon and open-faced sandwiches—as well as macarons, tarts and lavender and pistachio lattes. The furnishings are simple and atmospheric, with an emphasis on rattan and local wood. There are both outdoor and indoor tables (though it's worth noting that the design is an open-air concept, so the inside offers little respite from the heat).  Open daily from 8:00 a.m. til late, walk-ins welcome.

Please note there is also a Pink Camel location in Jeddah.

Habitas AlUla Tama

Tama

Sharing a space with the seriously Instagram-friendly infinity pool at Habitas AlUla, Tama—which means ‘here and now’ in Aramaic—is the design hotel's all-day restaurant and lounge space, serving up mocktails, fresh pita and creative hummus blends and a host of Middle Eastern and international dishes spotlighting seasonal, local ingredients. Bedecked with cut-tin lanterns, woven rugs, ceramic vases and potted plants, the atmosphere is one of the area's most chic—and it's equally beautiful at breakfast, when the sun hits the pool, as it is at night, aglow with candle- and starlight. Expect menu highlights like the Berenjena (eggplant with pomegranate, labneh, walnuts and mixed lettuces), the fire-roasted shawarma, citrus and radicchio salad, and oven-roasted fish with farm vegetables.

Please note that Tama sits up a long road at the top of a hill, so most guests will prefer to arrive by golf cart.
