    3 Days: Essential Charleston

One of America’s earliest cities, Charleston remains among its most elegant, and Indagare can help arrange activities like ghost tours, horse-drawn carriage rides and visits to plantations and historic homes. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.

    • Day 1

Get your bearings with a walk around Charleston’s downtown and lunch at a local institution like Hominy Grill. Then, enjoy a walking or carriage tour of the city with a stop at Legare Street, where there are some beautifully restored historic homes. Come evening, head to Husk Bar for a drink, and then take a pedi-cab to one of Indagare’s favorite farm-to-table restaurants.

    • Day 2

This morning, stroll around town and visit College of Charleston’s campus, one of the oldest schools in the country. Then, swing by some of the city’s best gourmet shops to gather picnic supplies before departing for two historic plantations: Middleton Place and Drayton Hall. After touring the homes, find a shady spot on the grounds and unpack your lunch. Return to the city in the afternoon for antiques shopping on King Street and a visit to a hidden cemetery. Eat at a Charleston hot spot for dinner.

    • Day 3

This morning, rent bikes and go for a ride along the Battery or drive out to Sullivan’s Island, where you can get lunch at Poe’s, named for Edgar Allen Poe, one of the city’s former famed residents. Enjoy the rest of the day leisurely before departing.
