Review

Located in the center of Nashville’s the Gulch neighborhood, just five minutes from Vanderbilt University and even closer to the honky tonk bars on Broadway, the Thompson Nashville debuted in 2016 and quickly became the place to stay for visiting travelers and music industry folk. Popular with locals, too, the hotel has an array of attractions (most notably its rooftop bar, L.A. Jackson) that make it a spot to see and be seen in the buzzing neighborhood.

The Thompson’s 224 rooms (including 17 suites) have a modern aesthetic with a slight hipster-cool touch. All of the accommodations feature floor-to-ceiling windows, wooden floors, sliding barn doors, exposed cement beams and brass fixtures. Bathrooms have chevron-tiled floors, rain showers and, in the suites, clawfoot bathtubs.

The Thompson offers a range of dining outlets, from the lobby coffeeshop, Killebrew, and the rooftop bar, L.A. Jackson, which has skyline views and craft cocktails, to the main restaurant, Marsh House, a southern seafood restaurant. At the latter, patrons can enjoy all-day fare including cast iron cinnamon rolls and frittatas in the morning and squid ink garganelli and fried chicken and biscuits later in the day.
