Review

With only 24 rooms and the feeling of a private home (which it was until the 1990s), Casa Palmero offers the most secluded and luxurious rooms in the Pebble Beach resort area. The house dates back to the 1920s and oozes California charm, with its original wooden front door, grand winding staircase and main living room where a fire blazes in the hearth. The rambling two-story house radiates from a central Spanish style, redbrick courtyard complete with a tiled fountain. Guests can gather in the large living room, which features an original coffered ceiling and grand piano, as well as the billiard room, dining room and library, where there is a two-hour complimentary cocktail reception each evening to encourage mingling among guests. Breakfast is served in the guest rooms, as there is no restaurant on site. However, the full-service Spa at Pebble Beach is located in the adjacent building, and its café is a popular spot for fresh juices and snacks. All of Casa Palmero’s rooms have wood-burning fireplaces, and many have hot tubs and views of Pebble Beach’s first hole. While Casa Palmero feels very secluded and serene, the buzz of the Lodge and its many shops and restaurants are just a short walk away. Indagare Tip: Beauty seekers should be sure to check out the spa’s offerings from the California Skin Institute.
