Bar Cecil
Named for British photographer (and rebellious renaissance man) Cecil Beaton, Bar Cecil is a playful restaurant and bar with eclectic design and over the top specials (like the $50 martini served with a side of deviled egg and caviar). But there's substance beyond the style, too: The cuisine is American with a French twist–think steak frites, escargot and California artichokes–along with an extensive wine and spirits list. Matching the bright interiors, Bar Cecil draws a buzzy crowd.

The Evening Citizen
The Evening Citizen, a speakeasy tucked behind a back door in a strip mall, serves carefully mixed cocktails and light bites in a dark setting. The cocktail menu is creatively hidden amongst what looks like classified newspaper clippings. Try drinks such as the "Mary Pickford" (which is over 100 years old) and the "Backstabber"—named for the man who murdered the original recipe inventor.
