Located on the fringe of Old Montreal, the W is an urban design hotel with a focus on nightlife.
Review
Housed in the historic Banque du Canada building between downtown and Old Montreal, the W is suitable for younger travelers looking options other than the city's more traditional offerings. The contemporary lobby features dim lighting, a red-and-blue color scheme, modern lounge chairs and white orb light fixtures. Those looking to unwind upon arrival can head upstairs to the Plateau Lounge or to Bartini for an aperitif.
The 152 rooms are decked out in blue-and-white fabrics, with illuminated side tables, rainfall showers and a dizzying array of Bliss bath products. Soft blue lighting and fur throws add to the cool ambiance, and the best rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces.
Être Avec Toi (E.A.T.) is the property’s splashy restaurant located just off the lobby. Part art gallery and part lounge, the eatery focuses on seafood and features many shared plates for family-style dining. Those looking for some peace and quiet can escape to the oasis-like Away spa or well-equipped gym.
Who Should Stay
The W is ideal for the younger, going-out set. Families will find it too nightlife-oriented.
