Located in the up-and-coming Navy Yard neighborhood, Bluejacket is a seriously cool brewery and restaurant that beer lovers should not miss. Housed in a cavernous industrial building that dates back to 1919, the space has a relaxed yet modern atmosphere with tall communal tables and a lengthy zinc bar that looks into the brewing space. In fact, Bluejacket is one of the few craft beer hotspots in D.C. that actually brews its beer on site. The bar serves 20 original ales and lagers on tap daily, which visitors can sample individually or in flights over lunch and dinner or during a tasting. Brunch is also served on Sundays. The food—a classic American menu with international influences—is quite good, but the beers—which are bright, fresh and flavorful—are the true star. When the weather is nice, seating on the buzzy outdoor patio is also available.
