Review
The entrance of New York's midtown Ritz feels like walking into a private Park Avenue home. While many New York City hotel lobbies are bustling meeting points for tourists and locals alike, the Ritz's relatively small ground floor feels cozy and private. The dark-wood-paneled reception and bar areas are elegant without being overly extravagant.
Guest rooms are spacious by New York standards and feature oversize marble bathrooms with separate showers and tubs (though only single vanity sinks). All of the one-bedroom suites have pullout sofas and two full bathrooms, making them a great choice for families. While the rooms have cheery and bright décors, they may seem cookie-cutter to those who prefer more character. Guests should know that while the Parkview rooms boast exceptional sights, the Deluxe and Superior rooms face an unimpressive inner courtyard.
The fitness center is not remarkable but has enough equipment to keep gym goers content and private trainers, yoga, and Pilates instructors can be arranged by request. The La Prairie day spa, one of the few in the country, features six treatment rooms, a decadent spa menu, as well as men's and women’s steam rooms. The hotel ground level restaurant, Audun’s Bar and Bistro, serves simple and classic fare.
