mount hood
A 90-minute drive from Portland, Mount Hood rises more than 11,000 feet above sea level and boasts the longest ski season in North America, offering 365 days of skiing. A part of the Cascade Range, the mountain offers fun activities year-round, and is particularly great for camping, hiking, fishing and snowshoeing. While it is advisable to visit Mount Hood as a day-trip, those who wish to overnight here can stay at the Timberline Lodge (timberlinelodge.com), the notorious set of the Overlook Hotel in 1980’s The Shining.
