Distillery Row

Located in an area once home to warehouses, Portland’s Distillery Row is now known for its plethora of small-batch distilleries. Some of the best include House Spirits (65 SE Washington St.), known for its Aviation Gin, and New Deal Distillery (900 SE Salmon St.), which produces interesting vodkas infused with such ingredients as cacao nibs and Southwestern chili peppers. The most fun way to experience the dozen or so spirit makers here is with a tasting passport (distillerypassport.com), which allows visitors to sample the whiskey, rum, absinthe and aquavit at all the tasting rooms.
