At 02Aspen yoga studio, about a quarter mile from the center of town, you’ll find sleek workout gear and casual wear plus extras like scented soy candles.

Every fall, I look forward to the arrival of the Gorsuch catalog, its pages filled with elegant ski outfits, après-ski wear and sumptuous coats and jackets. The company’s Aspen boutique in the North of Nell building has a range of styles from traditional Austrian jackets and lederhosen to fashion-forward styles from Etro, Cavalli and Burberry. Unfortunately, in my experience, the service is lackluster if not downright dismissive. There is also a location at 419 E. Cooper Ave and Aspen Mountain at 601 E. Dean Street.

This stylish boutique is run by its equally chic owner, Giselle Leal, who stocks the shop with one-of-a-kind vintage pieces and designer finds from around the world.

Like Malo, Manrico is an Italian company known for its gorgeous cashmere fashions, but they also sell cashmere sheets, which seem particularly suited to the Rocky Mountain nights.

If Dennis Basso furs are a bit too glam for your kind of Aspen living, you should try Mark Richards. He specializes in leather, shearling and fur coats that are beautifully made but slightly understated.

The cult parka brand Moncler chose Aspen as the first place in the U.S. to open a boutique. With men’s coats on one side and women on the other, the store features down puffy jackets that have raised the bar in mountain form-meets-function fashions. You can see why so many Aspen closets now boast rows of Monclers in a rainbow of colors.

This tiny shop’s trim slacks, sexy cocktail dresses and whisper-light cashmere sweaters are what well-dressed Aspenites are wearing.

If you are looking for stylish ski clothes and want a wider selection than Moncler and something a little more European in feeling than Gorsuch, consider Performance Ski, which carries brands like Prada, Zegna and Authier.

Pitkin County Dry Goods, which opened in 1969, carries a mouthwatering selection of leather and shearling coats from France and Italy as well as fun basics.

In addition to designer Suzi Johnson’s signature ‘Souchi’ knitwear (including sweaters, blankets and accessories), this upscale boutique features a variety of designers with appropriately ‘après-chic’ women’s wear.

Credit the economic recession, but Aspen’s favorite consignment shop (some call it vintage) has moved to a brighter, more central location. The Little Bird sells gently used or almost new luxury fashion and accessories from such brands as Hermès, Chanel, Prada and Vuitton. When many of the town’s most stylish ladies tire of last season’s pieces, this is where they send them. Aspen’s first real luxury vintage clothing store also has a wild conglomeration of new designer pieces, silkscreen tees, even sweatshirts. Local Keele Loyd manages her tiny shop with great flair and a real fashion sense that will let everyone who walks in leave looking good.
