On our recent Insider Journey to Copenhagen we focused on Nordic Cuisine with meals at many of the “baby Nomas”, the restaurants started by Noma alums and culminating with dinner at the legendary Noma 2.0, arguably the most famous restaurant in the world today and the toughest dinner reservation to score. In our group of foodies, which included celebrity chef Marc Murphy, who stars on Chopped and runs Landmarc in New York, we all agreed that the dining scene in Copenhagen is so fabulous that while Noma is the ultimate “get,” you can have memorable meals all over town. Below are some of our favorite spots.

Hot Spot: Manfred’s focuses on vegetarian and is the more laid-back eatery of the team behind Relae.
Major meal: Geranium, a Michelin-starred restaurant with twenty courses that you will not forget.
Classic: Palaegade is the place to try the best smorrebrod, open-faced sandwiches on dark bread, with traditional choices such as herring and roast beef with horseradish.
Day trip: Drotsholm Castle, a castle dating from the 12th century, is an hour’s drive from Copenhagen with a gorgeous countryside setting and fabulous chef.

Classic: Barr, in the space of the original Noma, is a casual spot serving incredible seasonal menus. Do not miss the marrow-fried waffles with lumpfish roe, crème fraiche and herbs.
Hot Spot: 108 is another Noma alum’s restaurant, and the one that has stolen the heart of many foodies for its focus on regional produce and seafood.
Local favorite: Hija de Sanchez, located in the meatpacking district, is a stand-out taco stand.
Relaxed but refined: Koefoed is a charming small restaurant with superb seasonal food.
Big Night Out: Noma 2.0 requires reserving months out for its 20-course seasonal menus.

Memorable Family Dining
Copenhagen is definitely a foodie mecca, but families don’t have to commit to Michelin-starred restaurants to enjoy delicious food. Here are our picks of casual and accessible spots for memorable meals with kids.
Orangeriet: A glass house on the edge of the park is a great choice for a casual spot in good weather.
Palaegade: Traditional open-faced sandwiches (Palægade 8)
Baest: Unforgettable pizza from a Michelin-starred chef
