Glenmere Mansion

Hudson Valley, New York

Barely an hour from New York City, Italianate-style Glenmere Mansion is a luxe couples’ retreat atop a hill around 20 miles west of the Hudson River. Built in the 1910s for a wealthy New Yorker, it resembles an ornate Tuscan villa. Interiors, including 19 individually-designed guest rooms, feature original design details, including terra cotta flooring, marble fountains, coffered ceilings and grand fireplaces. Set on 150 acres overlooking a nearby lake, Glenmere Mansion also has formal gardens, a pool, tennis courts, a spa, and two much-lauded restaurants. If that doesn’t keep you busy, Storm King Art Center is under a half hour away. “The best thing for me was how personal Glenmere feels,” says Indagare’s COO Eliza Harris, citing its friendly, attentive staff. Minimum age: 18

Mystique

Santorini

’s status as one of the world’s most romantic islands is no secret. That’s thanks in part to its eye-dropping vistas—white-stucco villages on top of thousand-foot-high cliffs that cascade into the cobalt Aegean—but also to its clutch of coupley hotels and resorts. Among Indagare’s favorites: the no-kids-allowed Mystique, in chic Oia. Built directly into the sloping hillside, its cream-hued suites come with indoor and outdoor hot tubs, the latter of which overlook the ocean below. A sleek infinity pool blends seamlessly with the sea, too. Minimum age: 14

Post Ranch Inn

Big Sur, California

Set 1,200 feet above the Pacific, on the cliffs of Big Sur, Post Ranch Inn is a must-stop for its rustic, California charm and signature views. Most of the inn’s 39 rooms face the sea, with huge windows giving the impression that you’re floating over the ocean. Some of the rooms face the mountains, and resemble an “adult version of a treehouse,” says Bradley. The forested grounds give direct access to trails that weave through orchards and groves. Sierra Mar, the inn’s destination restaurant, serves locally-sourced California cuisine in its glass-walled dining room. “Just being at the Post Ranch Inn is the real treat,” continues Bradley. “It’s about reconnecting with nature and your companion.” Minimum age: 18

Hermitage Bay

Antigua
Hermitage Bay

is a serene adults-only resort with an emphasis on privacy on the southwest coast of Antigua. It has 30 villas nestled into a lush hillside overlooking a white swathe of sand and the hotel’s namesake cove. Guests can spend the whole day staying active on the water: fishing, sailing, diving and windsurfing. Landlubbers can visit local farms, play tennis and take a cooking class. And if that’s too much, Hermitage Bay is perfectly suited for utter relaxation mode, lounging poolside or at the beach, visiting the garden spa, or dunking in the suites’ private plunge baths. Minimum age: 14

Cap Rocat

Mallorca

In a former 19th-century military fortress—drawbridge included—Cap Rocat exudes major St. Tropez vibes, and is Mallorca’s sexiest hotel option. Many suites are located inside the historic fort itself, while several occupy former artillery positions, carved into the sandstone cliffs. Guests have exclusive access to a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking Palma Bay, along with a spa and watersports (accessed by stone steps leading into the sea). The hotel’s two excellent restaurants, open only to guests and yachters, emphasize Majorcan cuisine, both traditional (at the Sea Club) and avant-garde (at La Fortaleza). Minimum age: 15

Mii amo

Sedona, Arizona

Travelers looking for some serious introspection should make a beeline to Sedona, where the secluded Mii amo is nestled in a red rock canyon. Attached to the family-friendly Enchantment Resort, Mii amo is a secluded, adults-only resort that attracts a celebrity clientele for its multi-day wellness “journeys.” Indagare founder and CEO Melissa Biggs Bradley admits “Yes, it sounds New Agey,” but affirms the hotel “makes you believe that a better you—and that can mean whatever you wish—is attainable. Whether you seek to be calmer or stronger after a divorce or bout with cancer (or you're really just looking to unplug and reset), the staff here will dedicate their days to helping you get there. Plus: The red rock location will awe you; and you really feel lucky to have time in such a sacred, healing, beautiful place.” Minimum age: 16

Jade Mountain

St. Lucia

Built into the steep hill high above Anse Chastanet beach, Jade Mountain is known for its bold, out-of-the-box design that eliminates all boundaries between indoors and the natural world. No two open-air rooms are alike in layout or decor, and showcase more than 20 types of tropical hardwoods in the flooring and furniture, all of it made locally. Huge whirlpool tubs, lined with votive candles, look out over St. Lucia’s famous Pitons, and guests fall asleep to the sounds of tree frogs. To Indagare Creative Director Simone Girner, Jade Mountain is an "ideal fit for couples who love a barefoot-chic aesthetic, a great sense of place and resorts that truly pull you away from all digital distractions. Don't miss sunset cocktails on the roof with gorgeous 360-degree views." Minimum age: 16
