Pet-Friendly Hotels We Love

For many pet-owners, a vacation isn't quite the same if their four-legged friends aren't along for the adventure. Luckily, there are quite a few properties across the United States that don't just allow your furry family members to tag along, they actively welcome them as part of the family.

Our favorite pet-friendly hotels across the U.S. have gone the extra mile to make sure guests' pets are just as pleased as their owners by providing extra services, space to play (and lounge!) and of course, treats.

Montage Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina

This charming rural resort nestled against South Carolina's May River takes its pet-friendly stance seriously, as it not only welcomes guests' dogs, but has its own "Canine Ambassadors" that live on the property. May (a black lab) Cooper (a chocolate lab) and River (a yellow lab) have their own scheduled meet and greet times during the week, so guests can play with the dogs on one of the hotel's many well-manicured lawns.

Guests staying at the Montage can take advantage of a myriad of outdoor activities like horseback riding, golfing, yachting or kayaking, or take a complimentary car across the state line to nearby Savannah for a day trip. If you're more apt to bask in the slowed-down sense of time in this classic Southern sanctuary, head to the spa to unwind and relax, or to the patio at the hotel's restaurant Buffalo's, where pups are welcome (and even have their own menu items).

The Peninsula, Beverly Hills, CaliforniaBeverly Hills

pooches get the star treatment from the minute they arrive. In addition to a placemat and bowls, canine guests receive a set of monogrammed paw-print towels, a lint remover, a plush dog bed and personalized welcome letter from the hotel's Managing Director. Pets, along with their humans, receive nightly turndown service with Evian water and a chew bone.

As no trip to Beverly Hills would be complete without some pampering, the Peninsula offers a day of beauty and relaxation with private in-room grooming and massage for your pup, and both standard dog-walking and dog-sitting services are available. The Peninsula Beverly Hills charges a supplement of $35 per night for pet guests.

Blackberry Farm, Walland, Tennessee

Blackberry Farm is an elegant resort in rural Appalachia that feels more like an easy-going country club than a five-star hotel. For pet-owners, however, the one thing even better than the exceptional cuisine and world-class service are the dog-friendly accommodations. Pups are welcome in this idyllic Smoky Mountain retreat as long as they are on a leash while exploring the property. With 4,400 acres to cover, however, your dog will be more than delighted to traverse the surrounding wilderness and hiking trails.

The farm is also home to a selective dog breeding program of Lagotto Romagnolo, originally from Northern Italy and bred to hunt waterfowl. The family of dogs on the property typically has three litters of puppies each calendar year and are managed by the hotel staff.

The Mark, New York, New York

As one of New York's most elegant upscale hotels, The Mark spares no expense when it comes to pampering its furry guests. Your dog will enjoy a comfortable dog bed by Molly Mutt, the hotel's signature water bowls and a custom made placemat. In addition to these luxe essentials, the hotel also provides its very own "Woof Woof Kit," containing a collar, leash, waste bags and to-go water bowls in a custom-emblazoned leather pouch. Should your pooch get antsy from all the lounging around, Central Park is only steps away from the front door of the hotel.

Twin Farms, Barnard, Vermont

If you're looking to explore the great outdoors with your pets, Twin Farms in Vermont may be the destination for you. The 300-acre property, once the former estate of Nobel Prize-winning author Sinclair Lewis, is now a laid-back but luxurious countryside retreat with a host of outdoor activities.

Twin Farms welcomes up to two dogs at a time in their Log Cabin, Meadow Cottage and Woods Cottage, and will treat your pooch to luxurious sleeping accommodations, blankets, treats and food bowls. Guests can spend their days relaxing and lounging in between hiking trails through the surrounding woods and fields either on foot or bicycle.

The Inn at Perry Cabin, St. Michael's, Maryland

This 18th-century colonial mansion-turned-resort on Maryland's tranquil Eastern shore is a slice of American elegance on Chesapeake Bay. The wide-open space and laid-back pace is perfect for both guests and their four-legged friends looking to unwind.. The hotel provides a pet bed, bowls and even a room service menu specifically for Fido upon check-in.

The grand colonial mansion is located in a prime position on the river to allow for such activities as sailing, paddle-boarding, or simply lazing in an Adirondack and watching the sailboats pass by.

Sea Island, Georgia

This sprawling seaside escape on Georgia's Sea Island has something for everyone, including your four-legged friend. The property hosts an array of activities such as world-class golfing, fishing trips, coastal wildlife bike tours and boating and welcomes guests' dogs along for the ride. The elegant but relaxed vibe at Sea Island contrasts with the surrounding natural beauty of the sea, the sky and swaying trees.
