Episode 11 Hotel Legends: Ritz Paris

Join Melissa at the Ritz Paris, one of the most famous hotels in the world, in its legendary Imperial Suite for a conversation with the hotel’s esteemed general manager Marc Raffray and Colin Field, the founding bartender of its renowned Bar Hemingway. The three will transport you to the property as they discuss its storied and glamorous history, luxurious modern-day offerings and what it is like to stay at the hotel today. You will quickly discover why Ernest Hemingway once famously said, “When in Paris, the only reason not to stay at the Ritz is if you can’t afford it.”

Founded in 1898 by Swiss hotelier César Ritz and French chef Auguste Escoffier, in a building designed by one of Louis XIV’s principal architects, Ritz Paris has been a favorite Parisian getaway for the likes of Hemingway, Coco Channel and Princess Diana. After undergoing a $450 million renovation, the hotel reopened in 2016 and is better than ever. And by the end of the episode, you’ll be daydreaming about enjoying the Ritz Paris yourself – and Melissa, Marc and Colin have you covered! This week’s destination hack is all about how to indulge and enjoy this iconic hotel – even if you aren’t staying there – from the cooking school to the gastronomy, spa, and, of course, the cocktails.
