If you’ve ever visited Boston and seen oversized, vaguely duck-shaped steel buses lumbering through its narrow streets, you’ve witnessed a Duck Tour. And though they look terribly gauche, these tours are actually loads of fun for tourists of all ages. The über-perky guides border on corny, but they never lose your interest as they narrate the history of the city during the eighty-minute ride, which includes a drive-by of the major landmarks. The least interesting part is the water segment, when the tour goes straight into the Charles (the buses are actually WWII-era amphibious landing vehicles), but the views of the skyline from the river are excellent. Tours book up early in all seasons, so plan ahead and buy your tickets online.
There are three departure locations: Prudential Center, Museum of Science and the New England Aquarium
