Day Trip: The Atlantic Road

Atlantic Road

Dubbed the world’s most beautiful car journey by British newspaper the Guardian, Norway’s five-mile Atlantic Road makes for a spectacular road trip. Known as “The Road in the Sea,” the route has been used in many car commercials and is a popular destination for travelers, who navigate the beautiful Norwegian coast via bridges that connect islands. Driving along the ocean’s edge, travelers will traverse eight bridges and can stop along the way for great fishing and some short hikes. A nearby stretch of coastline, Hustadvika, is a great place to stop; the sea here is notoriously treacherous and many shipwrecks can be seen from the road.
