A former fishing village, this charming seaside town is as popular for its family-friendly beaches as it is for its nightlife. Especially in the summer, it has become a major destination for Europe’s LGBT community.
Visitors can wander the seaside promenade and the charming town. The premier shopping street is Carer Major, which is lined with boutiques and the odd chain, with a range of fashion and beach-chic options. (A favorite is Ernesto D Barcelona, detailed below.) Sitges is best paired with Tarragona as a day trip, unless travelers would like to spend the ful day enjoying the beach.
