This free botanic garden is a hub for runners, dog-walkers and nature lovers. The Emmerentia Dam offers opportunities for fishing, sailing and kayaking, while the 81 hectares of gardens and greenery provide ample opportunity for birdwatchers and flower lovers to drink their fill of wildlife. Special gardens include a Shakespeare Garden, Rose Garden and Herb Garden, among others, and the garden as a whole is often host to exhibitions and concerts (and sometimes kite-flying competitions). This is a great spot to enjoy a walk away from the city or indulge in a picnic lunch.
