The Kandt House Museum focuses on Rwandan life when the country was under German colonial rule. The museum is broken down into three sections: Rwandan life from a social, economic and political perspective during the colonial period; the experience of the Rwandan people during the colonial period; and the history of Kigali before, during and after the colonial era.
The museum was named after Richard Kandt, Rwanda’s first German governor. The visit takes approximately one hour and is a more off the beaten path museum to visit in Kigali.
