Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle

Loch Ness, United Kingdom

Made famous through Loch Ness monster “sightings” over the years, Loch Ness is Scotland’s best-known loch and the largest loch by volume in the United Kingdom, containing more water than all English and Welsh lakes combined. In addition to water activities, travelers here can visit the ruined Urquhart Castle, one of Scotland’s most visited castles due to its location and role in the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century. The castle can only be seen by the water or through the visitor’s center on the castle grounds.
