Carved into the hillside behind the Catedral de la Almudena, Royal Collections Gallery is an important museum for anyone interested in learning more about the Spanish monarchy. The extensive collection includes tapestries, paintings, furniture, jewelry and much more from both the Bourbon and Hapsburg monarchies. Many glittering decorative arts on view here are eye-catching, and don’t miss the paintings by Caravaggio, Goya, Bosch and Titian, as well as impressive floor to ceiling tapestries depicting scenes from the Bible and Greek mythology.
