A mainstay in Edinburgh’s Prince’s Street Gardens, the Scott Monument began construction in 1840 to honor the life and death of Sir Walter Scott, a renowned author, poet, playwright and historian. At the center of the towering monument sits a life-sized sculpture of the writer himself, and interested travelers can take a tour to learn about the history.
