Sharaan Nature Reserve

When you picture the red sand deserts of the Middle East, you might as well be picturing the Sharaan Nature Reserve. The reserve is 579 square miles of red sand, sprawling desert, soaring red-rock canyons and valleys. It is also the location for the highly anticipated resort by Jean Nouvel. The mission of Sharaan is to “restore, protect and conserve the sensitive ecosystem native to AlUla.” Currently, the reserve is under restoration, while efforts are made to relocate animals to the area and restore the land.

Note: Though Sharaan Nature Reserve is currently closed, Indagare can arrange tours by 4x4 vehicles to explore the desert and canyons.
