A major hub of commerce for the Iberian Peninsula in the 19th century, Porto was an important city for its manufacturing and trade of port wine. The Palácio da Bolsa was built in the center of Porto, a Neoclassical, palace-like structure. While the building still holds business offices, the majority of areas are open to visitors. The Arab Room is decorated with Moorish-inspired motifs; the intricate carvings took 18 years to complete.
