The Baths

North Sound Road, Spanish Town, British Virgin Islands

See Website

The Baths are Virgin Gorda’s most (and perhaps only) iconic sight. A geological wonder located on the island’s southwestern tip, the area is comprised of dramatic granite rock formations that form sheltered pools along the white sand beach. The boulders, which can be up to 40 feet wide, are believed to be the product of volcanic rock being slowly weathered into rounded shapes over the years. Follow the winding paths through the stone structures—or scale them, if you’re feeling adventures—to find a pristine white-sand beach with clear, shallow waters called Devil’s Bay. A popular place for day trips from nearby resorts and yachts to moor, the national park can get crowded. Arrive early to have as many of the Baths’ grottoes and seawater pools to yourself.
