Tonlé Sap, Cambodia
Life on Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake, Tonlé Sap, has adapted in ingenious ways to the annual rise and fall of water caused by the backflow of the Mekong River feeding the lake during monsoons. The communities that live around the lake handle the huge seasonal variations in water levels by building their homes on floating bamboo rafts or 10 meter stilts.
Indagare can arrange boat rides on the lake via custom traditional wooden boats that enable you to explore the unique Tonle Sap, cruising through the floating villages. This activity is best when timed to watch the sunset over the lake.
