Formerly called the Museum of American War Crimes, this sight is interesting for visitors who have studied the Vietnam War and are intrigued how modern-day Vietnam has coped with and represents this chapter in its history. Be warned that this is not a museum for kids or for sensitive souls; many of the displays are extremely graphic and disturbing. There’s a room dedicated to the effects of the era’s chemical warfare and some of the black-and-white photographs depict atrocities beyond words. The name of the museum was changed in the 1990s, as relations between Vietnam and America were improving; but most of the exhibits remain pretty one-sided.
