Built in the 19th century, Wat Chalong is Phuket’s largest and most important Buddhist temple. The 195-foot tall chedi or shrine hold what is believed to be a bone shard of the Buddha, but even non-believers will appreciate the gilded paintings that cover the walls and ceiling and illustrate the life of Buddha. Women must cover their shoulders and both sexes should wear clothing below the knee.
