One of the most beautiful restaurants in Moscow, Café Pushkin has long been a must stop for visitors. Its historic interiors, which include stained glass windows and wood paneling, evoke a grand and old-fashioned era and are the perfect backdrop for enjoying a traditional Russian meal of borscht and stroganoff. Tverskoy Boulevard 26A
once housed a dancing school and the restaurant remains filled with antiques and objects of the past century. Despite the old-fashioned imperial interiors, the menu is modern Moscow in the sense that it mixes Russian and French dishes with dim sum and other Asian dishes. Tverskoy Boulevard 26/5
This café in the GUM department store has tables right on Red Square so it’s one of the hottest spots for lunch in good weather—sort of like Moscow’s version of Café de Flore in Paris or Florian in Venice. The menu offers typical ladies-who-lunch specialties like salads and pastries. GUM at Red Square
Located on the second floor of the National Hotel (just up the stairs from Dr. Zhivago), this upscale restaurant serves a variety of Russian delicacies, but it should primarily be considered a caviar brasserie, with an entire section of the menu devoted exclusively to caviar. You will also find a variety of fish tartars and carpaccios on the menu. Hotel National, 2nd Floor, Dom 1, Mokhovaya Street 15/1
This opulent yet playful restaurant on the World’s 50 Best List vaults centuries’ old recipes and ingredients into the 21st Century. Though this restaurant has become touristy due to its reputation, it is an excellent, creative, and fun experiential dining experience. The menu is not for a picky eater so would be challenging for families with young children, however, the young at heart will appreciate the restaurants decor. Advance reservation is required here. Smolenskaya Square, Dom 3, 16th Floor
Imagine a Miami Beach cocktail lounge grafted on top of a building in central Moscow and you have the feeling of 02. There is even a lifeguard stand turned into a private lounge cabin. The views of the Kremlin and Red Square are wonderful and the prices of drinks are sky high. Ritz Carlton Moscow, Tverskaya Street 3
This chic café on Red October Island offers great views of the river and the Kremlin. The food is internationally trendy and so is the crowd. In summer, the terrace is the place to be. 14 Bersenevskaya Embankment 5A
became number 19 on the World’s 50 Best List in 2019. Identical brothers Ivan and Sergey Berezutskiy serve Noma style cuisine while championing Russian produce. Their farm, outside of Moscow, turns out 70% of the ingredients used at their restaurant and leftovers are sent back to feed the animals on the farm making Twins Garden an almost zero-waste operation. Strastnoi Blvd. 8A
Celebrity chef Vladimir Mukhin's (World’s Best Chef, Chef’s Table Season 3) newest restaurant is a very trendy table in Moscow, particularly for dinner. The restaurant showcases cuisine from the island of Sakhalin, a Russian island in the Pacific Ocean, north of Japan. Regional ingredients combine with Asian dishes forming the basis of a new style of MediterrAsian cuisine that feels more Japanese than Russian. While many tourists dine at White Rabbit, those in the know are dining at Sakhalin. Azimut Hotel, Smolenskaya 8
