Often overlooked for its more flashy sibling Marrakech, Morocco’s northern city of Fez provides a purer version of the country for those interested in exploring its historic medina and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s also still considered the country’s cultural and spiritual center.

Designing Your Journey
Work with Indagare to design the perfect itinerary for an immersive journey. Our travel experts know the destination inside and out, and they can make recommendations based on your travel needs and preferences.
3 Days: Essential Fez
This itinerary includes three nights in the bustling medina of Fez, where days will be spent exploring (and shopping in) the ancient streets of the souk, touring important cultural sites and immersing oneself in the local artisanal culture of Fez. Indagare can help with a customized itinerary. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Day 1: Medina Exploration
Meet your guide for an introductory tour of the Fez medina. Your morning will include a historical overview of the city, as well as stops at Bab Bou Jeloud, the legendary Blue Gate, the Jewish quarter, the medersas and the legendary tanneries, where ancient techniques are still used to prepare Moroccan leather. You’ll also visit the world’s oldest learning institution, the University of Al Quaraouiyine. Enjoy lunch at a secluded garden restaurant in the medina before spending your afternoon at leisure.
Day 2: Artisan Tour and Home Visit
Today, your guide will take you to several workshops to see Moroccan craftsmen at work and help you to understand their methods. After lunch at an elegant garden café, you will visit a local family’s home, where you will have the opportunity to taste and learn about Moroccan food and try a variety of delicacies including honey, olives and spices. Later, enjoy dinner at an authentic Moroccan restaurant.
Day 3: Voulibis-Meknès-Moulay Idriss
Today, visit the famous Roman ruins at Voulibis, an hour’s drive from Fez, as well as Moulay Idriss, the hilltop town founded by a descendant of Mohammed, with your guide. Continue on to Meknès, with its charming medina and 17th-century ramparts. Among the highlights are visiting the stables, the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail and the museum of Moroccan Art. Finish your evening with an aperitif and dinner at a rooftop bar with views of the medina.
