Day Trip: Cape Coast

Three hours outside the capital city Accra, Cape Coast is a World Heritage Site and one of the country’s—and Africa’s—most important historical sites. “It’s a necessary visit for anybody that goes to the country,” says author and world traveler Jessica Nabongo, who is a frequent Ghana visitor, “because you get to understand the history of the Atlantic slave trade…No matter who you are or where you’re from, you’ve been affected by the slave trade.”
