Review

Run by the same hotel group that also manages the Opposite House, East Beijing proves that a business hotel can also be hip and cool. It offers a funky design coupled with all the usual conveniences expected in a business hotel. Rooms include work stations, international power sockets, and free WiFi. As the name suggests EAST is located in the east of the city, close to the 798 Art District, Wangjing Business Park, and the airport.

This is not a hotel which is suited for sightseeing; aside from the 798 Art District most of Beijing’s sights are located in the West of the city. But it is an ideal place to stay if there is business to do in this end of town. Facilities include a smart gym and pool, a chic bar named Xian – which is often frequented by the arty crowd who live this side of town – and two restaurants. FEAST, a light-filled café-style eatery and EAST’s main dining area, has fast become a popular destination for expats in the area looking for family-friendly weekend brunches.
