Shanghai Museum

Designed to resemble the round sky of heaven and the square earth, the striking Shanghai Museum opened in 1996. It contains impressive collections of bronzes, jade, scroll paintings and porcelain. Invest in the acoustic tour with overviews of each collection, as well as detailed descriptions of some of the most significant treasures. Don’t miss the gift shop to the left of the entrance; it stocks a wonderful selection of books and crafts. Closed Sunday.
