Lay of the Land
Mumbai is set on a peninsula that dips south into the city’s harbor. Bandra sits in the north and is home to the Taj Land’s End hotel, a good option for visitors with early morning or late-night flights (the airport is in the north of the city). Heading south is Worli, the city’s prime business center. South of Worli sits the ritzy residential Malabar Hill and Marine Drive neighborhoods as well as another commercial district, Fort. Most of the city’s classic sights are located in the southernmost tip, home to Colaba, Apollo Bandar and Nariman Point. The Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a bridge that extends out into the bay, offers an alternate route for commuters as Mumbai has notoriously bad traffic congestion.
