Junsei

Kyoto is known for its tofu—specifically yudofu (tofu cooked in a hotpot with dried kelp and served hot with Ponzu sauce)—and the best place to try it is Junsei. The traditional restaurant is located in a beautiful 19^th-century building near the Nanzen-ji Temple and serves a variety of kaiseki menus, most of which include several plates such as sashimi, grilled tofu skewers, yudofu, picked vegetables and a tofu skin (yuba) hot pot. The Edo-style building has a lovely garden and koi pond, too, that is worth exploring after a meal.
