St. Martin

Courtesy of Belmond La Samanna

St. Martin, split between French and Dutch territories, is one of the northern Leeward Islands in the Caribbean Sea. While the island is home to an international airport and one spectacular resort, Belmond La Samanna, St. Martin is largely built-up and touristy, so it works better as a jumping-off point to other Caribbean islands.

“We loved the mix between a feel of the Caribbean and south of France. For us, a true Caribbean island has both hills and pristine white sand beaches with azure sea - St Maarten (especially La Samanna bay) is the ideal postcard. With such small children, it is truly ideal to have direct flights (and a lot of them).”

“St. Martin’s is a great destination for Those who are looking for a flop-and-drop beach vacation, and don’t mind the busier and more touristy vibe, or travelers with young children who want to stay in a villa.”
