Review

Boasting one of the best locations in Paris, on a quiet street two blocks from the iconic Rue de Rivoli, Le Roch Hotel & Spa is the first hotel from Parisian designer Sarah Lavoine, who outfitted the address so perfectly that is has become a favorite of travelers looking for an elegant, discrete escape in the city. Decorated in rich hues and with book-lined shelves, velvet couches and a fireplace, the lobby at Le Roch feels more like a home than the entryway of one of the most popular boutique hotels in Paris.

Le Roch’s 32 rooms and five suites feature a contemporary design aesthetic and a mix of jewel tones of deep blue, green and burgundy. The overall feel is modern French with a Moroccan touch, the latter element being particularly evident in the suites, which feature hammams. The ‘Parisian apartment’ is a great option for families, as it occupies the entire sixth floor and has a lovely rooftop terrace.

For such a small hotel, Le Roch has an impressive array of pampering amenities. The basement-level pool, made from black lava rock, is a serene oasis that connects to a hammam through a waterfall. The mirror-walled fitness center features the expected gym equipment, and the spa offers a menu of treatments from French skincare brand Codage. For dining, the excellent all-day restaurant has become a destination for even non-hotel guests, thanks to its excellent cuisine by chef Rémy Bérerd, which includes such dinner fare as grilled octopus with piquillo peppers and corn and spelt risotto with candied kumquat.
