Marquis Faubourg St. Honore opened early in 2013 as an intimate boutique property decorated by renowned designer Michele Bonan (of JK Firenze and Capri fame). With only fifteen suites, the polished retreat has a discreet entrance that requires guest to buzz to enter. Fun fact: The hotel is located in the same courtyard where Lafayette, the "hero of the two worlds", lived and died once he returned from America to Paris.

The suites vary in size and decoration; all have simple, modern interiors with clean lines and luxurious tones of reds, blacks, creams, and browns. Many of the suites have unique features: four of the suites have postage-stamp sized terraces, while others have beautiful silver, mirrored bathroom vanities and the those on the fourth floor are cozy with slanted ceilings under the eves. All of the suites have views out into the quiet street or courtyard. While the hotel only has one connecting option (suites #42 and #43), the property will close off the fourth floor for a family’s personal use and put furniture in the hallway to create a cozy apartment.

While the Marquis has a breakfast room and offers a 24-hour concierge service, it does not have the lobby scene, restaurant, spa or fitness center that one would find at a larger, full-service property. However, for independent travelers and those who are looking for a more intimate experience, the Marquis Faubourg St. Honore is a hidden, stylish gem.

Those who are returning to Paris or are more independent travelers who would appreciate a quiet, discreet base right off of St. Honore. Those who need the bells and whistles of a full-service hotel with a lobby scene, spa, gym and restaurant would be happier elsewhere. Also, those who would like traditional old-world Parisian grandeur on the Right Bank should consider Le Bristol or Le Meurice as an alternative.
