Following the 2015 opening of his upscale neighborhood restaurant Clover in the 7th arrondissement, Jean-François Piège is targeting a more upscale clientele with his latest culinary venture, which has already been awarded two Michelin stars. A feast for the eyes as well as the mouth, Le Grand Restaurant is a grand affair that serves haute cuisine in a dramatic, modern setting. To enter the intimate dining room, guests pass a striking black marble–faced open kitchen. Though windowless, the 25-seat dining room does have natural light, which shines down through a splendid geometric black-and-white stained-glass ceiling. Whimsical place settings mixing Japanese ceramics and colored glass stemware offset the room’s austere raw concrete walls. The prix-fixe menus are symphonies of French gastronomy, heavy on classic dishes like sweetbreads, beef cheeks and blue lobster from Brittany. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
