100% Capri
This Capri classic has fabulous linen products for women, men and kids, as well as some items for the home.
AMEDEO
Angela Puttini
Indagare Insider and stylish hotelier Grace Leo-Andrieu recommends this boutique, which opened in 1988, saying: “This is “one of my favorite jewelry boutiques. Don’t miss it!”
Autori Capresi
Founded by Antonella Vanacore and Antonio Truppa, a married couple with a background in tailoring, Autori Capresi has established itself as one of the classic Capri labels. The focus is stylish summer fashions for men, women and children in the highest quality linens, cottons, cashmere and leathers. A light palette of white, beige, navy and chocolate holds the collections together and makes it easy to create elegant looks.
Bluemint
Men in search of good-looking bathing trunks should head to Bluemint. The tiny shop sells colorful prints with an array of motifs inspired by the Mediterranean.
Botteghe Capri
This sandal maker is definitely the next generation on the island. The store is stylish and the models are trendy, and for those who want an experience that feels more sleek than authentic, this is the spot.
Buonanno
This Neapolitan men’s clothing company has a small shop tucked in a side street near the Quisisana where you can find lovely linen shirts and trousers in a palette that is perfect for the Mediterranean.
Canfora
The island is famous for handmade leather sandals, more bold than those sold along the Amalfi coast, adorned with colorful costume jewelry, gilded stars and rhinestones. Today a selection of sandals made by Canfora, the preferred brand of Jackie O, can be bought online, but there’s still something romantic about going to the small family-owned boutique along bustling Via Camerelle, across the street from the Quisisana, and having a pair made to measure.
Capri Style
Tucked into an archway on Via le Botteghe, Capri Style stocks a large array of fashion, from glamorous hats and beach bags to sandals, espadrilles and cover-ups.
Carthusia, I Profumi di Capri
You will not be able to escape this perfume store, which has several locations on the island (and even one at the Naples airport). The products, including perfumes, lotions, soaps and scented candles, are made with local flowers and herbs (reportedly, Jackie O was a fan of Fiori di Capri, a feminine mix of lily of the valley and wild carnations). There are four showrooms on Capri, but the one on Viale Matteotti also houses the factory, where you can watch serious men in white lab coats at work.
Ceramiche Tavassi
This ceramic workshop in Anacapri sells some of the prettiest ceramic objects and tiles on the island. Each item is hand painted, and the store will ship all over the world. In the back of the shop, above the work tables and jars of paint, are the words, “When you buy something from an artist, you’re buying more than an object. You’re buying hundreds of hours of errors and experimentation. You’re buying years of frustration and moments of pure joy. You’re not buying just one thing. You are buying a piece of a heart, a piece of a soul…a small piece of someone’s life.”
Chantecler
Our favorite jeweler on Capri occupies a prime spot just up the street from the Quisisana and has been part of the island’s glamorous history since 1947. Descendants of one of the original founders still run the legendary jewelry store, which now has outposts in Milan, Tokyo and Hong Kong, among others. Their coral and diamond pieces are particularly stunning. Anyone who loves stones and great craftsmanship should at least come and browse.
Claudia
Located right in the main piazza of Anacapri, Claudia specializes in objects and housewares that celebrate the sea and its creatures. You will find everything from actual seashells to ceramic marine creatures and tablewares adorned with ocean motifs.
Daniela di Stefano
This sleek boutique carries a chic mix of well-edited home accents and tabletop items, including Côté Bastide table linens, Limoges porcelain, tins of Mariage Frères tea, sculpted vases, embroidered pillows and oversize colorful candles. The beautiful displays, with tables stacked with coral-edged plates and slender stemware, may inspire you to shop for a villa of your own on the island.
Delfina
Roman Delfina Marsaglia began selling bathing suits in Rome in 1992, but when a Vogue editor featured them in the magazine, her creations were picked up by stores all over the U.S. She has expanded since then with boutiques in St. Barth’s and on Capri, which now sell a wonderful collection of beach fashion, from bags, jewelry and kaftans to straw hats and sandals.
Di Losa Gioielli
One of the best jewelry shops on the island, Di Losa is located just off the Piazzeta and sells a large range of adornments, from one-of-a-kind coral and diamond showstoppers to delicate pavé pendants.
Faraone Mennella
Farella
Four sisters from Capri are behind this wonderful knitwear brand. Their focus is on quality materials (merino wool, linen and cashmere) and classic but creative styles. They are known for their shawls, dresses and vibrant colors. Their “artisanal fashion” is sold in this spot near the Tiberio Palace and at an outpost at the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Don’t miss their second brand, Oro Capri, which is just down the street.
Fiore
One of the only shops on the street leading into Capri’s main piazza from the marina road that is worth stopping into, Fiore is the best place on the island to find fine quality hats (by Borsalino) and espadrilles.
Gianfranco Irace
For men who want timeless Capri style, Gianfranco Irace sells everything from classic straw Fedoras and linen trousers to handsome bathing suits and belts.
Grazia e Marica Vozza
Recommends New York–based makeup guru Kimara Ahnert: “My must-splurge on Capri is the jewelry at Grazia Vozza; in fact my latest splurge was a beautiful necklace with pearls and a Maltese cross with semi precious stones. A selection of Vozza’s pieces are now being carried by Bergdorf Goodman.”
Isaia
This legendary Neapolitan tailor is now known around the world, but the family began its tailoring business in the 1920s just across the bay, and its most famous silhouette is named for Capri. This outpost sells its ready-to-wear collection and will also do custom orders.
L’Arte del Sandalo Caprese
If the bustle around Canfora, Capri town’s premier sandal shop, is too much, head to more serene Anacapri, where Antonio Viva’s charming boutique lies a bit off the beaten path. Sandals come in a huge variety of styles and colors; don’t miss the faded photographs beside the doorway, featuring famous past customers.
La Campanina
This venerable third-generation jeweler, whose two boutiques are located in the center of town, has long ago reached cult status among fashionable shoppers.
La Parisienne
Rumor has it that Jackie O often arrived on the island without luggage, immediately ordering several pairs of sandals from Canfora and Capri pants made at La Parisienne, one of the few family-owned boutiques to have survived the influx of big labels in Capri town. The boutique, which opened in 1906, still carries these pants, made famous by Audrey Hepburn, another past customer, but now also has a well-edited selection of fashion, including Roberto Cavalli and Fendi.
Mariorita
This concept store in the Capri Palace Hotel in Anacapri is a great one-stop shop of stylish items. It includes a mix of designer labels like Pucci and Missoni that are perfect for the island as well as local collections such as Capri Touch, which sells linen shirts and dresses and classic sandals.
Mik Mak
If you are looking for fine quality linen clothes and accessories for men and women, this shop in Anacapri sells classic items that are all designed on Capri and made in Italy.
